INTRODUCTION:

CULTURAL PRACTICES:

This is one listing of a variety of nematode management techniques commonly called cultural practices. In all likelihood, no two nematologists would have precisely the same techniques on their list.

One could consider, for example, that using resistant varieties, fallow, cover crops and trap crops are merely a part of crop rotation.

Some, consider resistant varieties to be an aspect of biological control, while others consider them a totally separate category of management.

We will cover soil amendments as an aspect of biological control, although it could also be considered another cultural technique.

In reality, nematode management is a spectrum of techniques with considerable overlap between methods. Each practicing nematologist works out their own categorization in a way that helps them best plan, explain, and carry out a management program.
