NTP TECHNICAL REPORT ON THE CARCINOGENESIS STUDIES OF TELONE II:

Three shipments of mice were received at 2-week intervals. All vehicle control mice were from the first shipment; low dose mice were from the first and second shipments, and high dose mice were from the second and third shipments. As a result of this procedure, initial body weights of vehicle control mice were higher than those in the dosed groups."

An examination of the NTP Technical Report itself provides additional information on the lack of randomization. This information indicates that mice in the three treatment groups originated from different litters and that control mice were older and weighed more at the time the exposures were initiated.

The evidence for carcinogenicity in the study can be found in data tables for the examination of rat forestomach and liver, and mouse, lung, and urinary bladder.
