NEMATODE/BACTERIA ASSOCIATIONS:
- NEMATODES MAY PREDISPOSE PLANTS TO BACTERIAL DISEASE
- OR MAY INHIBIT THE DEVELOPMENT OF BACTERIAL DISEASE
- NEMATODES AND BACTERIA TOGETHER MAY RESULT IN A DIFFERENT DISEASE THAN THAT CAUSED BY EITHER PATHOGEN ALONE
- NEMATODES & BACTERIA TOGETHER MAY RESULT IN PRODUCTION OF A TOXIN THAT KILLS MAMMALS
As summarized in the table, no definitive statements are possible with respect to describing nematode/bacterial canker associations.
At the present time, the only ongoing work in California in this area involves ring nematode and Pseudomonas syringae in the development of bacterial canker.
